Great result in keen competition: 500 miles Karting Race in Granja Viana (Brazil)! |

From 29th November till 2nd December 2007 Leonardo was racing in the most prestigious karting event in Latin America: 500 milhas de Kart da Granja Viana in Brazilian city Sao Paolo. This year in this 12hours races of karting teams there were participated such great stars of latinamerican and world motorsport as F1 pilots: Felippe Massa, Rubens Barichello, Nelsinho Piquet, IndyCar pilots: Tony Kanaan, Vítor Meira, ex-F1 & ChampCar pilots: Antonio Pizoznia, Christian Fittipaldi and many others. There were overall 68 teams which took part in this races this year! Leonardo Valois was competing for Brazilian team LP Kart Performance with kart no. 115 together with three other Brazilian drivers: Emílio Padron, Mário Maia & Osvaldo Badula. The program of the event was following: Thursday-Friday: free practices, Saturday: qualifications and from Saturday 24:00 till Sunday 12:00: 12 hours endurance race. Already in free practices Leonardo has showed his talent for speed, when he was reaching the fastest lap time (57:03) of his team and indeed comparable time to the best pilots like Massa, Barichello whether Piquet. The most experienced pilot of LP Kart Performance team O. Badula has raced in the Friday qualification and gained the 26th position for the team in race. But after the start of the race itself the team unfortunatelly fell back on to the 52.position but later they were moving forward unceasingly; and in the end in such keen competition Leonardo together with his teammates of Brazilian team LP Kart Performance have reached overall great 10th place of all 68 participated teams! They ended up in overall Top ten and also in the first place between 53 non-seeded teams. From the point of view of the team leader O. Badula they could end up even in far better position (around 6th place) according to progress of the race but the race has been aborted 1 and half hour before the planned time due to the unexpected technical problems. Just this last part of the race was raced by Leonardo himself and as O. Badula said he had been very fast and sure in his race. The winning team was the kart no. 71 with pilots: Rubens Barichello, Tony Kanaan, Lucas di Grassi, Felipe Giaffone and Renato Russo. This weekend June 29.-30. 2007 Leonardo took part in 2 races of Austrian F3 Cup held in german Lausitzring and from both races he brings home a cup equally for the thrird place. |

Leonardo has gained the 3. place in ATS Formel 3 Trophy ranking and following he appeared on the winners podium in his first race of this season in famous F1 circuit: Nurburgring. Great job, mainly if we take into account that Leonardo has achieved this result with the absence of any preseason F3 testing and with serious technical problems with gear in 2nd qualification, that threatened his start in both races for a long time. |

Thanks to the kindness of 3 brazilian sponsors (Ilha da Alegria, Porto Indio and Prevcaixa) Leonardo is going to participate in German Formula 3 Championship (this year under the official name ATS Formel 3 Cup). Regarding the fact that this decision came a little bit late, Leonardo had to miss two first racing events (Hockenheim and Oschersleben) and without any testing he will have to jump straight into the running season from the third racing event that will take part in Nurburgring 8.-9. June 2007. So far there is confirmed the Leonardo's participation in next 4 of 7 overall remaining racing events in ATS Formel 3 Cup 2007.

Leonardo Valois was testing the Champ Car Atlantic formula in a famous american circuit Laguna Seca, Monterey, California on the 8th March. It was his first short acquainting testing with this type of formula car. And he is very impressed by Champ Car Atlantic and would like very much to race in this championship series this year. Leonardo is hoping now that he will manage to find the important support from sponsors for this aim. By the occasion of his official testing in Laguna Seca Leonardo has met there with 3 time Champ Car World Series Champion: Sebastien Bourdais, of whose Leonardo is a big fan. See: the Gallery. |
